Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 16, 2001

This document discloses information gathering and dissemination practices for this website, Modine.com, and is part of the Agreement between you and Modine Manufacturing Company ("Modine"). The Agreement includes this Privacy Policy and the Terms and Conditions. By accepting the Modine Terms and Conditions you agree to the uses of your personal information described in this Privacy Policy. This privacy policy may be updated from time to time.

Modine has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy.

Information We Collect

Registration:

In order to register for our service, you will need to submit contact information, which may include your email address, name, address and phone number. You must register in order to access secure information in various activities on the website.

Traffic Data:

As people utilize the Modine website, we collect traffic data to help us understand how our websites are being used and how we can improve them. This automatically-gathered data includes your computer's IP or "Internet Protocol" address, statistics about how visitors navigate through our websites, search terms entered, and information provided through the use of "cookies."  We do not use this information to capture demographic or other information; rather it is used simply in the administration of the Web site.

Personalization and Cookies:

A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you or your computer, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you. We use cookies for three reasons: (1) to keep track of your information for your own convenience and to help you avoid having to re-key in data; (2) to help us optimize your online experience by altering our content to provide you with information more likely to be relevant to you; and (3) to maintain your security settings between sites within Modine.com. Some of our features depend upon the use of cookies. Therefore, while you are accessing the Modine website, you should ensure that your browser will accept cookies. If a user rejects the cookie, they may still use our website. The only drawback to this is that the user's access to our website will be limited in some areas.

Transaction Data:

We also track transaction data such as the items that you have downloaded or ordered. This data will be associated with the User name that you create when you register.

How Is Personal Information Used?

Providing the Service:

The information you provide when you become a registered User is used to facilitate personalization and increase ease-of-use of our web site.

Third Parties

Except as described in this Privacy Policy or as authorized by you, Modine will not disclose any of your contact information to third parties other than in connection with a transaction in which you are involved or upon written request to a verified representative of your company. We may release aggregate information about our Users to third parties, but in that event, we will not release information that identifies any User by name or by other contact information.

Modine will release information when compelled by court order, or when we believe, in our reasonable discretion, that such disclosure is warranted to cooperate with inquiries by law enforcement agencies.

This website contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every website that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this website.

E-mail Addresses

We collect your email address to have available for sending notification of the activation of your account, to provide the automated service of emailing forgotten passwords, and to provide copies of electronic orders for publications transmitted to our fulfillment partners.  We may also use your email address to send you notice of new services, features and policy changes at Modine.com.  We do not sell, trade, or rent our list of email addresses to any third party.

Security

Modine uses industry standard security enhanced systems in order to prevent third party access to your information. These systems include a combination of firewalls, data encryption, login passwords, secure socket layer security protocol and public key encryption technology. Modine uses a secure sign-on process to secure access to administrative functions and hosts the web servers in a physically and network-secure environment. Although we employ these extensive efforts to maintain security, we cannot guarantee that your contact information will not be intercepted by a third party's illegal efforts.

While we use various technologies to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line. All of our users' information is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our customer service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable information.

If you have any questions about the security at our website, you can send an email to privacy@modine.com.

How your information is encrypted

Any area of Modine.com that either requires the user to enter personal information or requires Modine to transmits non-public data to this user are protected using 128-bit SSL encrypted transmissions between your Web browser and our Web server. This protects against the remote chance that someone (e.g. on your network at work or at your Internet service provider) may try to compromise your private information as it travels from your Web browser to our secure server. You'll know when transmitted data is safe by a security notice when you enter a secure page, and by the presence of an icon on your browser, either a key for Netscape or a lock for Microsoft Internet Explorer.

About SSL, security, and firewall problems

Some older browsers (such as IE 3.0.2) have known SSL bugs. These can result in the browser crashing on SSL pages or giving error messages. We recommend that you upgrade to the latest version of whatever browser you prefer. For AOL users, you may be able to upgrade your security by downloading and replacing the schannel.dll from Microsoft. For users behind corporate firewalls, you need to configure your web browser security settings. This includes setting https or secure proxy settings. To determine if you have such a security problem, you can edit a secure URL, replacing 'https' (secure) with 'http' (insecure). If the page works with http:// but not https://, then you have a problem with your security settings. You should contact your system administrator for assistance.

Some users may experience difficulty if they are using a version of SSL security that has less than 128-bit encryption.  Until recently, the United States government did not allow the exportation of 128-bit encryption.  That ban has been lifted, and the most current versions of both Netscape and Microsoft Internet Explorer have 128-bit encryption available.  If your browser experiences difficulties with SSL encryption, please contact your system administrator for assistance in obtaining the most current version of your broswer.

Protecting Your User Name and Password

It is your responsibility to maintain the privacy of your User name and password. Unauthorized use of your account will enable access to your personal information. Please keep your User name and password in a safe place.
